- Our Civic meeting was held at Heritage Free Will Baptist Church, 575 Obetz Rd., at 6:00pm on June 8, 2026. Approximately 15 people were in attendance. After reminding members of the decorum policy, Reba Damron Jones called the meeting to order. Following the Pledge of Allegiance, Pam Richards opened the meeting with prayer. There were 0 birthdays or anniversaries for the month.

Reba reminded members to pay their $5.00 annual dues this month.
- Free box fans for seniors age 60+ are available from the Franklin County Agency on Aging. Call 614-525-6200 to schedule an appointment for a fan pick up or fill out the application online. Fans can be pick up at 280 E. Broad St.
- Our Civic has joined the Litter League, sponsored by the City. We’ll compete to pick up the most trash during the summer. We need to count each bag of trash. Can also take pictures of what you’ve cleaned up in your neighborhood, and send the pictures to Curtis Brown. This activity will help our group get visibility. Let Reba know if you’re interested in participating in pop-up cleanups.
- National Night Out – This event will be held on August 4, 2026, at the Scioto Southland Rec Center shelter houses. Time is 6:00-8:00pm. Reba stated that we received $808.25 from the Department of Neighborhoods. This money is to be used for book bags, school supplies, fingerprint kits, banners, etc.
The $300 and $400 sponsorships have been filled. Other sponsorships of varying amounts are still available. The Donation Sheet and the Volunteer Sheet are available for members to sign. We need a volunteer to bring condiments, enough for 200 people. We also need recycling bins. Reba said she’ll pick up 10 bins from SWACO the day before NNO. She’ll also get the trash bags.
Curtis Brown is working on finalizing our permit. Advertising will start in July.
Fire trucks will be at NNO, but not the kids’ Fire House. At the July Civic meeting we will stuff the bookbags after the business meeting.
- The land next to Scioto Community on Obetz Rd. is being cleared for 118 Senior apartments. These apartments will consist of studio, 1 bedroom and 2 bedroom units.
- Lisa McCuiston from LifeWise shared that a van had been donated this week for their use this fall. The program for 4th grade students will begin this fall, and hopefully the high school program will begin in January. Lisa stated that the program needs teachers and subs. Donations of food and snacks are also appreciated.
